Long Story Short:  A Website for Women Writers

Okay, I’m going to be politically incorrect here and call attention to a gender specific website.  Long Story Short is a very well done website.  Their homepage says it best:

Long Story Short is an offshoot of a writing forum founded by our fearless leader, Linda Barnett Johnson, who created the forum in the fall of 2001.  Along with terrific ideas, information regarding contests, publishers, writing tips and exercises, she presents our small group of 8-12 writers with a writing challenge each month.  We improve our writing skills by providing serious critiques which enables each of us to discover our writing strengths and weaknesses.  Our goal is to become published authors and many of us have achieved that goal.

Our members are a varied group of American women who reside in far-reaching locales that range from California to Maryland with stops in between.  We are a racially diverse group with Hispanic, African-American and Caucasion members which gives us a wonderfully wide perspective on life and experiences.

We decided to create an ezine to feature the finest writing of our members and to invite others to submit their work to us with the hope of publication.  Aspiring writers can get real critiques from our submission committee and with their help, achieve the goal of seeing their work published.

Long Story Short    (click here to visit!)

It is filled with contests, information, articles and fiction.  It’s worth the read, go check it out!  Visiting, you’ll find a Graduation Day Contest, a Mother’s Day Contest, a Fun with Food page and interviews with poets Orania Hamilton and  Andrena Zawinski.

            I highly recommend it.
