REVIEW OF

WHAT IF? WRITING EXERCISES FOR FICTION WRITERS

By: Anne Bernays & Pamela Painter

What If? is a book of exercises suggesting various ways to practice the art of writing. It describes different ideas to experiment with and gives the objectives of each lesson, as well as showing examples. This book shows how to reach deep within ourselves to bring our emotions and learn to write from the heart.

The exercises are designed to show how to hook the reader, develop believable characters through description and dialog, create conflict and plots and finally to find the resolution.

I believe this book would be helpful to all authors new and experienced and might solve the problem of writers block.

I read the book through, then went back and began the exercises. I am finding it very helpful, learning how to set a scene through the eyes of my character and dialog.
